The move of the Resource Centre to its new home has now successfully taken place - but if you missed the blow by blow accounts of all the hard work carried out by some special volunteers, then the move story can be read below.
This poll was driven by the impending end of lease in our 'historical' location on Monks Way. The Monks Way unit has increased in rental yearly, and now faces its largest leap of all - to £20K per annum. The building is in poor state, and the Society would, as tenant, be required to pay for future maintenance (such is the rule in commercial lets).
Website readers, and those working close with Monks Way will be aware that the LFHS Resource Centre is currently closed. This is to allow the small group of volunteers to pack the contents of the centre, and organise for its transportation to our new home at Queen's Community Centre and HUB, at South Park, Lincoln.

The move of the Resource Centre to its new home is progressing well - the latest installment of the move story can be read below.
The third van-load, carrying the Publications stock, and the remainder of the furniture (almost!), left Monks Way at 10:00 am on 26 July. Again, the removal team worked miracles, especially in managing to store items vertically in the van, to get everything in!
The 28th July was a memorable day for the working team! The Probate volumes were taken away in a van, to their new home!!
The 31st July was EUREKA Day!!
The final load of rubbish was taken away by our removal firm. I suppose I am not allowed to advertise, but if you are moving in the Lincoln area, "The Lincs Man with a Van" are a great team, and did us proud.
"EXODUS - 1 August 2023 !!
The final clean was carried out. Last bits of rubbish into neighbour's skip (with permission, of course).
Great help from Neal Bower and Tracey Fairhurst. Frantic effort, just temporarily interrupted by a coffee delivery from McD's.
THE PHOENIX ARISES
Well, not quite that dramatic, but work is now starting on putting together the Society’s Resource Centre at our new location in the Queen’s Park Community Hub.

MAIN BOOKSHELVING READY (WELL ALMOST)!
Fell behind schedule on Wednesday, as final pieces of the shelving Jigsaw did not fit! So, had to replace some uprights, and it also became apparent that each shelf had a slightly different length. So, down to trimming each by a couple of millimetre - a time consuming operation.

VOLUNTEERS WORKING DAY
A cheerful band of volunteers answered the call for HELP, and leapt, with relish, to the task of trying to sort out order from chaos.
A shape is taking form. About one third of the floor space is dedicated to the library. The photos show David Ingleby and Brenda Overton stacking items away on the shelves.

STATUS QUO
No, not the musical type. I am afraid that the new Resource Centre in the Hub appears to be in the same state, although to the careful observer, some real progress has been made in some areas. Compare today's photographs with those of the previous report!

MAY WE LIVE IN INTERESTING TIMES!!
I have used reference to the Phoenix in a previous heading! If I used it again, you would think immediately of Christmas Dinner. So, I had to find another eye-catching phrase. I hope that my replacement hints at mystery, and the unknown for 2024!

THE GRAND OPENING!!
11:00am on Saturday, 13 Jan 24 came around just a bit quicker than we really wanted!! I was still printing posters, and hadn't got them all located outside. In the IT Suite, at 10:45am, last minute adjustments to the software caused nervous hysteria, as the photograph of Neal Bower and Tracey Fairhurst proves.
